Linux looks at /etc/localtime to determine the current time of your machine. This can either be a symbolic link to the correct time zone or a direct copy of the time zone file.

Timezone files are located in /usr/share/zoninfo/

1.Login to server using root

2.copy the desire timezone to /etc/localtime

cp /usr/share/zoneinfo/Asia/Calcutta /etc/localtime

Above command will set time zone to IST which is timezone for India

timedatectl set-timezone “Asia/Kolkata”

Above command will make the timezone Asia/Kolkata

To list all timezones use below command

timedatectl list-timezones

To verify timezone is set correctly use below command

timedatectl status
